One of the oldest and greatest debates of beauty lovers. Lipstick vs Lip gloss vs Lip Lacquer.
I remember the first time my big sister got a lipstick, she would NEVER leave the house without the lipstick on. It was like she started being a woman, rather than a girl. It’s one of those memories that stuck with me. I somehow ended up pretty similar when it was my own turn to get lipsticks.
Whether it’s Lipstick, Lip Gloss, or Lip Lacquer, they all help women attract attention. They help give a great finish to the overall look. In this post, I want to go through when to use, what, and why.
Lipstick
Lipstick is a cosmetic product for your lips also known as a lip color. People usually used it to enhance the color of the lips. It’s a crayon-like, oil-based cosmetics substance containing pigments, oils, waxes, and emollients. It adds color, texture, and lip protection. Typically, it’s in a tubular container.
Moreover, as the wax and the emollients fade, some lipsticks create a residue. Lipsticks can often come in rather glossy formulations that cover the natural color of your lips.
Almost every single beauty company in the world has a lipstick formula. Lipsticks have been popular for more than a century. They have been the centerpiece of the beauty industry. Lipsticks that come in flavors are a very recent trend in the makeup industry too right now. They’re so easy to spot, and they come with a wide variety of colors and they can be matte, shiny or metallic.
This is my go-to lipstick, the Maybelline New York Color Sensational. I love this lipstick as it gives me a natural look and gives my lips some definition.
Lip gloss
Lip gloss provides a shinier finish. Either alone or after applying lipstick and it also adds a slight color. It has a thicker texture and it can be clear, high shimmering, or matte. Lip gloss appears to have less pigmentation. Some lip glosses that are translucent, carry a glean to your lips rather than applying a tint. They also come in different colors or scents, too.
Lip gloss keeps your lips moister. It gives your lips a beautiful shine and you can feel sexy all day long.
I always have this L.A. Colors High Shine Shea Butter Lip Gloss in my makeup kit to match whatever eye makeup I sport. This is my first love among all my lip glosses. The color and the formula behind it is what I love the most. It leaves behind a translucent, gentle color that is long-lasting.
Lip Lacquer
The lip lacquer is more like a lipstick, except that it’s long-lasting and has a glossier look. It comes in liquid form with a built-in lip brush. Lip lacquer is the most pigmented among the three. Its texture is much thicker and creamier than that. But, it’s easy to apply with a smooth finish and very convenient to use. Lip lacquers are very popular today too and it comes in various colors and many shades.
For a first try, I love the NARS Orgasm Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer because of its good quality and fabulous color. It’s not too thick and it gives the right amount of shine. It has a sweet smell like you want to taste. This lip lacquer is highly recommended.
I love all of them. But, with new developments in color, form, and texture of them, it can be tricky on which ones you will buy. I have covered the three different types of lip makeup, lipstick vs Lips Gloss vs Lip Lacquer. Thus, to help you understand their sense in coloring your lip and make it more beautiful.
